Day 2 27.01.15

Working on my flower design

I started off by selecting my flowers from the white background so I could easily select each flower and add a new background onto it.

I then got a black and white textured background that I liked (they have a big folder of different textures) and changed the colour of it to a light blue, to catch my colour palette.

I moved each flower to a new page document and started to create a pattern I admired. Once I created a pattern I put it into a repeat pattern (using the offset filter) so that it would fully work as a pattern.

Week 1 Day 1 26.01.15

I had my first day at my new placement, Gul Ahmed at GTM Europe in Manchester. I will be doing this placement three days a week. I will be using Photoshop and creating designs. GTM Europe specialise in Homeware, in particular Bedding and sometimes Curtains.

Morning

In the morning myself and Sam (designer) went to the Trafford Centre in manchester to do a comp shop so that we knew what the latest trends were. We went in Next, BHS, John Lewis and Dwell. This was really helpful as it meant I knew what types of patterns and designs were currently in the market. I took a lot of photos and found a design which I particularly loved.

Afternoon

From the design I liked I drew a few different flowers, then scanned it in and opened it in Photoshop. I added colour to each flower using a selection of colours I thought matched and worked well together.
