Day 8 10.02.15

I looked for inspiration on Pinterest for an upcoming trend I am starting to work on, 'Portuguese'. I looked at Tiles and different patterns that were on tiles.

When I saw one I admired I did my own version of it in watercolour paint. I then scanned my painting in and opened it on photoshop. I cleaned it up, cropped it, then put it into a repeat. I did this for a couple of different watercolour paintings.

Day 6 04.02.15

I started off by finishing off the second colour palette.

I then started to think of ideas for a reverse side for the duvet cover. I started to put together a reverse side; however there was so many options and choices of what I could do it was hard to start! I am planning on doing a few reverse sides. I will be showing Sam (designer) next week to see her opinion and where to go from there.

Sam has been helping me with my design work and giving her idea and opinion based on my opinion, making it look better and more commercial.

Day 5 03.02.15

I re printed a strip of  my design to re check the colour as I had ammended some of the colours to make them more suited to the market criteria, this included the background as I felt like it was too bright and needed toning down. Once re printed the colours looked a lot better and worked well together.

I started to create a second colour palette to see how my design looked in new colours. I looked at colours from the upcoming trend, '1980s Modern Movement'. The colours were very similar to the ones I had done in my first one. I simply changed a few of the shades, both look similar but different in their own unique way.

Week 2 Day 4 02.01.15

I made my design look neater and more professional as when you zoomed in there was white lines around each colour where the colour hadn't been added.

I added a new textured background which worked better than the previous one. I chose a weave style one that looked good.

I printed a strip of it to check the colours and see how they looked and if they were too bright/dull.

I started changing a few of the colours as some of them were too bright and needed toning down. For example, the yellow looked nice on the computer but once printed it came out more out very bright which made the bedding look like it was more suited to kids, this wasn't the market I was going for so I had to change my colours to make it work to the correct market age group.

Day 3 28.01.15

This morning I showed my flower design I had created yesterday to Joanne (manager) and discussed what to change. I worked on the changes throughout the day.

I changed the background from a textured background to a plain background as the texture didn't work with the flower design, I will be adding a new texture more suited to the flower design once I have changed the structure.

I made it less structured and more random by having flowers that were different sizes and not in lines so it was more free and flowed better.

I looked at the design I liked from Next and made it look more like that one as that was my inspiration.
